Promising Results From Pinnacle Bank Arena

The new arena in Downtown Lincoln looks to be a success so far, and the future holds a lot of very interesting promises for the venue.
Pinnacle Bank put up the arena in the Haymarket to benefit the area’s income, and it looks to be doing just that. The massive structure has already held a concert for singer Pink (during which a total of 14,077 people were rocking out), and multiple basketball games for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The basketball season is going pretty well, too. UNL hasn’t had the best basketball program in the past, only making it the NCAA Tournament 6 times in its history. Another matter entirely is that they haven’t won a game in the NCAA Tournament ever. The Cornhuskers and Northwestern are the only two BCS programs to hold that achievement (or lack thereof).
Even though the Cornhusker basketball program is notoriously vomit-inducing, the team has yet to lose a game at the Arena. They’ve won every matchup there as of yet, which is promising. Most recently they beat out South Carolina at the venue with a final score of 83-57. New Zealander (and freshman) Tai Webster played very well, as well as junior Deverell Biggs on his first game back from a suspension.
Though the Nebraska team looks better than they have in years, the Pinnacle Bank Arena will host many other attractions in the coming months. Still in the vein of basketball, the Harlem Globetrotters are confirmed to appear in the Spring.
There are upcoming concerts in the mix, too. John Mayer’s concert is on Nov. 22, Elton John the day after and rapper Jay-Z will perform on Dec. 1. There are some popular names in the pipeline, to say the least.
Pinnacle Bank may have hit a gold mine in Downtown Lincoln with the construction of the Arena, as the past has been profitable and the future looks like it’s going to yield the same results. And, fortunately, the new location for Nebraska basketball seems to have picked up the team’s athleticism and given them a suitable home court to defend.
