Finals Bring Out The Whiny White Girl In All Of Us

It seems like everybody has a love/hate relationship with that last week of each semester. Finals week is the dreadful few days of final exams in each class, yet it promises either Christmas break, or summer vacation. Students have taken to treating finals week as they would treat the reaping.
Ask any high schooler in this day and age and nearly everyone will openly admit they are stressed about grades, school in general and their future college careers.
Finals week is a pain in the you-know-what, but nonetheless, it is a necessary evil. I can’t stand it when all I see on Instagram is common “white girls” posting pictures with a notebook, a pencil, and a cup of Starbucks.
My feeds on Instagram and Twitter--and basically all other social media--are clogged with posts and pictures with a Starbucks coffee cup in them somewhere, with the caption, “Wouldn’t be able to get through my finals without my Starbucks <3” during finals week.
Now, I am guilty of a few of these so-called “white girl” tendencies, but trust me, some high school girls take it to the extreme. I’m talking the stereotypical girl that have Victoria’s Secret leggings, Uggs, a North Face or Victoria’s Secret jacket, straight hair, a white iPhone and a cup of coffee. Sometimes, they might go out on a limb and add an infinity scarf. Now, imagine each and every one of these girls’ Twitters and other social networks filled with complaints about their finals.
Annoyed? Yes, I am.
There is nothing more irritating than walking through the hallways to my classes and hearing over my shoulder about their finals a hundred times a day. I know that they are intense and important, but please, stop talking about it.
Do everybody a favor this holiday season, and don’t whine about your finals. In the long run, they are here to help students. Not to mention give students a great opportunity to raise own grades, or drop them, depending if you are a glass half full or empty kind of person.
Happy finals week, and may good grades be ever in your favor.
