The Auburn Tigers and the Florida State Seminoles faced off at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on Monday for the 2013 BCS championship. FSU came back in the last quarter to win 34-31.
Earlier in the season, Auburn beat out the Alabama Crimson Tide (who were incredibly good for the last few years of college football) in a missed field goal return for a touchdown. Not only did that finale cause an uproar in the sports world, but it also placed Auburn University’s football program in the championship.
Auburn’s lead was 11 points by the end of the first half, which came as a surprise to many. Florida State seemed practically unstoppable for the entirety of the regular season, which gained them their number one spot in all of college football.
The third quarter only saw three points in total, scored by FSU’s field goal kicker, Roberto Aguayo, on a 41-yard kick.
In the last stretch, Florida State scored three touchdowns over Auburn’s one and a field goal, giving the ‘Noles a victory.
