Lady Vikes Fall Short of Victory

The lady Vikings fell just short of the No. one Norris Titans last Thursday with a score of 44-40.
Despite the loss, the girls were actually quite pleased with the game. They showed their endurance through closing score gaps as high as 12 points during the fourth quarter.
Additionally, executing a series of three point baskets by Senior Olivia Boender, Freshman Emily Clarke and Junior Alyssa Weber, helped tremendously with morale boosts.
“It was an overwhelming feeling making the three point basket toward the end and contributing to closing the space on the scoreboard,” Weber said.
With another close game on their backs, the girls are working hard to prepare.
“Overall as a team, the girls did well," Varsity Head Coach Anthony Harms said. "We didn’t shoot well in the first half, but cut the lead down well at the end.”
The team’s main focus is moving forward, learning from the past and executing in the present.
“The season so far has been pretty good," Harms said. "There has been many ups and downs, but I believe the best is yet to come.”
Confidence has been key for the 2014 the dynamic season of Waverly Viking Girls Basketball team. The season so far has had many ups and downs, but the girls have pulled through the struggles.
Through the rollercoaster season, confidence is the key that has brought the varsity girls together as a team.
With the Varsity girls ranked No. six in Class B, they are hoping for the best in the near future. Their confidence shining on a chance to show what they’re made of during the State Tournament 2014.
The Girls are on the road next against Bennington on Friday, Jan. 17th at 6 pm.
