Lincoln Brings Losing Streak To An End

After a seven game losing streak, the Lincoln Stars pulled through three consecutive games and shocked fans with the three victories.

Saturday, Jan. 11 marked the third consecutive win for the Stars, beating Fargo in a shootout. Out of their 32 games, Lincoln has won ten of them, five of which were won in a shootout, four during regulation and one in overtime.

Before the start of the season, coach Chad Johnson announced that he was resigning as head coach for the team, for “personal and health reasons.” Jimmy McGroarty took over as head coach and general manager. About two months after Johnson’s resignation, the Stars franchise was informed of his passing and were left to mourn. Most of this year’s team are new players and had never had Johnson as a coach, but for the rest of the staff, it was obviously a tough loss.

A few trades took place and as players begin to get more familiar with each other, the team is appearing to make improvements and come into games with a more positive mindset.

Lincoln will play the Chicago Steel this Friday, 7:05 PM at the Ice Box, followed by a game on Saturday, 7:05 PM against Omaha in Omaha.
