Since Feb. 1st is coming around the corner, many girls have their dresses in hand and dates on their mind at Waverly High.
The annual Snowball Dance theme this year is Sadie Hawkins, so girls are required to ask their crushes to the dance. With many girls counting down the days, the event planners are plenty anxious themselves.
Waverly’s FCCLA and FFA members have planned for this event since the 50s and it’s still a tradition to this day.
“It has been such a fun experience so far planning it, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out,” FCCLA Membership Executive Abrianna Campos said.
Many things go into planning an event like this, and the clubs have been busy planning since October 2013. This year is going to be especially exciting because of the new changes.
“This year we are combining FCCLA and FFA member for the royalty court having only one king and queen from the two clubs,” FCCLA sponsor Mallory Gregory said.
“Dance Your Socks Off” is not only the dance theme, but also plays a role in the students’ fee at the door. If a student brings a pair of clean socks, they will get a dollar off the $5 dollar admission fee, and it’s all for a great cause.
The clean socks collected will all be donated to a local charity for people in need.
The sock-clad couples can show up to the Sadie-Hawkins Snowball at 8 in the cafeteria.
