Technology is a huge part of almost every teenager’s day-to-day life. The students of Waverly High School always capture the hottest new apps whenever they hit the App Store.

1. Flappy Bird- Flappy Bird has taken over not only WHS, but the entire world. The arcade game is based on a tiny bird that flaps its way through big, green pipes. This game has shot up on the App Store charts, making its way to number one. This game is extremely difficult and takes loads of concentration. Making it past 20 pipes is a huge accomplishment according to the students of WHS. Junior Mercedes Gable has broken 100 along with Logan Riley.

2. Instagram- Instagram is a social media app based on posting pictures with certain filters, as well as the occasional video. Users are able to like or comment on any picture. There are 20 different filters to perfect a picture. People are able to take different segments of a video they have saved to make the perfect video. Instagram allows users to scroll through the feed and look at different pictures posted by the people who are followed.

3. Snapchat- Snapcat is an app designed to send pictures or videos to a person or a group of people for ten seconds or less. Once the person opens the Snapchat, they are no longer able to open the picture, unless they screenshot the picture before it disappears. In a recent update, the user is able to replay a picture or video once every 24 hours.

4. Twitter- Twitter is an app that is popular worldwide. It is used to send out a post of 140 characters or less with the use of hashtags or pictures if wanted. Twitter has trends which are hashtags or phrases that are constantly sent out around the world. Twitter is a huge social media site and is used by a huge majority of cellphone users. WHS uses its own hashtag to post important or exciting stuff that happens throughout the school year. “#theVikeLife” is used by students, teachers and even some parents.

5. Tumblr- Tumblr is not as popular as Twitter or Instagram, but more and more students around WHS are picking up on this social media site. Tumblr is based on pictures. Text posts, videos and music links are also accessible on Tumblr. It is much harder to gain followers and likes on Tumblr than it is Instagram due to the lack of users on Tumblr.

Many apps are used at WHS. Technology is a huge part of the teen world. New apps pop up in the app store every day. The students of WHS will be sure to pick up on them as soon as they start to climb the charts.
