A Week For FCCLA

Last week, the FCCLA club at Waverly held a celebration for their members’ participation in various events and activities.
From Monday to Friday, a school-wide commemoration for the club and its members carried on, with celebratory dress and sweets bandied among FCCLA participators. However, the week wasn’t entirely flawless.
There were some unfortunate hiccups in regard to the inclusion of non-FCCLA members.
“Last year we included the whole school. This year… no,” club president Emily Hoss said.
Despite a lack of school-wide activities during the club’s weeklong event, they did have a few celebratory endeavors for members to participate in, including semi-formal dress and Valentine distribution on last Friday.
“We had our members wear their red official dress polo Friday and delivered membership recognition Valentines,” membership executive Abriana Campos said.
In contrast, FCCLA played a part in the class competitions last year during FCCLA week.
“Last year we had the class competition going, so we did a spirit week and recorded those participating to go toward class points,” Campos said.
Current club president Hoss will leave WHS for good after this semester, seeing that she’s a senior, but she still thinks that they can execute the week better the next time around.
“I won’t be there,” Hoss said. “But [I would] probably [want] better planned school activities.”
This year’s FCCLA week didn’t exactly go off without a hitch, but the club leaders learned from it and are prepared for next year.
