As of Feb 19. the United States is sitting third in the medal standings in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. In the standings the US is placed third. With seven gold medals, four silvers and 10 bronzes.
The US would be placed third regardless if the standings depended upon the amount of golds or the total medals.
Norway has competed quite competitively with the most gold medals of country: nine. Norway also has four silvers and seven bronze medals, totalling 20. Germany is placed second with just 15 medals total. They have eight golds and three silvers.
The US has fought to be second place against Germany. While Germany has only 15 medals, they are only one gold medal ahead of the US.
Even though Russia has the home field advantage, they are tied for fourth with the Netherlands with a total of 22 medals. Both Russia and the Netherlands have six golds.
Tuning in to the Winter Olympics to watch the US continue to succeed is a great way to cheer on and support the country. There is still time to watch it, it goes through this week into next week and ends on Feb. 23.
