The first and second meets have already taken place on Mar. 22 at Concordia, and Mar. 25 at Nebraska Wesleyan. Incoming freshmen, as well as returning upperclassmen, have shown to greatly contribute to the team and their results.
At Concordia, the women ranked fourth, while the men ranked third. Waverly athletes placed in the top ten throughout the events.
Sophomores Amanda and Ashley Cook took first and second in the girls 400-meter dash.
The Cook twins, alongside sophomore McKenna Hoy and freshman Emily Clarke, also led Waverly to first place in the girls 4x400-meter relay.
Senior Conner Smith placed first in the boys 60-meter hurdles.
On Mar. 25, Waverly students had to leave school early to get on their way for the second meet at Nebraska Wesleyan. It ended as another successful meet for the athletes.
Both the men and women placed second overall.
Hoy -- after placing second in the girls 60-meter dash at Concordia -- took back the lead and placed first.
The Cook twins protected their spots at first and second in the girls 400-meter dash.
Amanda Cook stole first place in the girls 55-meter hurdles.
For the guys, junior Jon Murray placed first in the boys 200-meter dash.
