With a sturdy season behind them, many of boys and girls basketball players were already looking forward the 2014-15 season.
A lot of things are soon to be changing for the season to come.
On March 21, players of both boys and girls were summoned to a meeting where many things were announced they thought they would never hear. There is going to be many changes to the coaching staff of the Waverly Basketball program. Four-year head coach of girls basketball, Anthony Harms, will now be the head coach for boys basketball.
After leading his team to the conference camp title, harms will have many accomplishments as memories while he changes paths.
“I want to thank all the families that supported the program the last four years,” Harms said. “It was a great ride.”
Although many of the players had mixed emotions, many were shocked by the new news.
“He knew all of our personalities very well and it was really hard to believe that he won’t be our coach next season,” sophomore Brianna Boender said.
Even though most were pretty upset, some are really looking forward to the season to come. “Our new coaches know a lot about basketball and know our skill set and are going to be able to work well with what we have in our program,” sophomore Ben Warner said.
With mixed-emotions about the season to come although, Waverly has the odds of having a summit of a 2014-15 season.
