On June 8, 2015, fluent spanish speaking students and spanish teachers Melissa Hopkins and Alicia Dallman are taking a nine day trip to Spain. The Spanish club will start in Madrid and travel by train to Barcelona.
The nine day trip will be to help the students experience a bit of spanish history and culture.
“We chose Spain for many reasons,” Dallman said, “Spanish culture is often included in our curriculums, but Spain also has beautiful monuments, markets and scenery.”
The visit will include places such as Madrid City and The Valley of the Fallen. Another Highlight of the trip includes sightseeing in Madrid and Barcelona as well as a trip to the Monastery of Montserrat, the holiest place in Catalonia. This will be a new experience for everyone.
“I'm excited because I've never been to Spain before, so it'll be exciting to see many things I've seen pictures of or read about in person,” Hopkins said. “I'm also excited to experience the linguistic differences between Spain and Latin America. Most of my experience has been in Central and South America and Mexico, so seeing the differences will make me a better teacher and a better language-learner.”
After the nine day trip, the students will arrive home with fond memories and a first hand experience with spanish culture.
