Sophomores Dylan Heger, Connor Strange, Ben Warner with the assistance of Speech teacher Erin Konecky applied to be a part of TEDxYouth at Lincoln in August.
Erin Konecky picked these three students out of her speech classes to apply for this. If they were accepted, they have to speak in front of a crowd on a specific topic.
Heger managed to land a spot in Ted Talks.
Unfortunately, Strange and Warner just missed the opportunity.
“I was actually pretty happy about it, then I realized I have to talk in front of a bunch of people,” Heger said. “I have mixed emotions about it.”
Strange and Warner are happy for their classmate’s achievements.
“I think that Dylan definitely deserved it the most out of all of us,” Strange said. “He had a great idea and I’m sure he’ll do great.”
Heger is competing on Aug. 16 in the Ted Talks competition.
