EMC Volleyball Pushes Conferences To New Date

Parent-teacher conferences recently encountered an obstacle with other activities and have made necessary arrangements in rescheduling.
The EMC volleyball tournament landed on the week of October 6 and has always had a stupendous turnout. Unfortunately, this event was not planned at the time that parent-teacher conferences were, which were initially set for October 7.
Emails and necessary announcements are in the process of getting to parents, allowing them to make plans for the conferences that will now take place on October 14 and October 21.
"I feel communication of the reschedule was done in an effective manner, I received a text as a well as an email regarding the conferences, and these are the two methods I prefer,” high school parent Cara Lacey said.
Parents understand the necessity of the change and don’t see it as a problematic change.
"The school desires to have as many parents in attendance at conferences as possible,” Lacey said. “By moving it from a date where there were clearly more activities scheduled to a date where there were less, seemed to make sense in order to not be competing with activities.”
While some parents considered the form of communication effective, others think there is room for possible improvement on the website and through texts.
“This communication type was efficient, but I would like to see something more about it on the website - perhaps the announcement section, or maybe there could be a ‘history’ section for prior text/email communications,” freshman parent Brandi Nielsen said. “We receive a lot of text messages, and especially with having two kids in different schools, it makes it hard to keep up with all of them.”
If there is concern or conflict within a parents’ calendar, events and upcoming activities can be found on the school’s website under the “Calendars” tab.
