Lawrence Back In Action For The Last Game

At the beginning of any player’s high school football season, an injury is the last thing he hopes for.
For junior outside linebacker Justin Lawrence, he got exactly that: a broken foot.
Lawrence was running to make a tackle in the second game of the season against York when he was hit from behind, and he felt his foot unexpectedly snap in his shoe.
That feeling wasn’t the snap he was going for with the tackle.
“It was a terrible feeling,” Lawrence said. “I felt so helpless because I worked so hard over the summer, and then I knew I was going to be out the whole season.”
Although Lawrence couldn’t participate, he was on the sidelines of not only every game but every practice, too.
“I didn’t want to bail on my team just because I got hurt,” Lawrence said. “I wanted them to make sure they knew I was always there and no matter what I was going to support them.”
The thought that he couldn’t play again the rest of the season was always on his mind, but toward the end of the season, Lawrence got yet another surprise he wasn’t expecting.
Little did Lawrence know, he would later be cleared to play in the biggest game of the season: the State Playoff game against number one ranked Omaha-Skutt.
“Just being able to strap the pads back on is the best feeling in the world,” Lawrence said.
Although the team wasn’t able to win the day like they had worked for all season, Lawrence was just thrilled he was able to partake in the day.
“It was such an incredible feeling to overcome all of the adversity and play next to my teammates again,” Lawrence said. “The feeling is indescribable.”
