Bond Issue

Voters chose Tuesday to pass the bond issue that grants District 145 over $15 million for various improvements.

Unofficially, the vote ended with 2044 in favor of the bond and 1792 against the bond, or 53% approval. The school district will receive information on the official votes in the near future.

$15.5 million of upgrades will benefit the students of District 145.

“This is a very exciting time,” superintendent Bill Heimann said in an email to staff. “The Board of Education greatly appreciates the support demonstrated by the district’s patron.”

Security features are the biggest changes slated throughout the district.

“What I’m most excited about, probably because I’m in charge of the safety

renovations are going to be there, we’ll be able to lock the doors down, people will have to at least buzz in,” vice principal Brian Daniell said. “It’s going to create a more secure environment than what we already have.”

In addition to security, technology and facility modifications will be updated. Official votes and a timeline for improvements will come in the following week.
