If you have been on Twitter or Instagram lately, then you probably have heard of Alex from Target. If not, then what rock have you been living under?

Alex Lee has over half a million Twitter followers. Why? Most people are asking the same question. A teenage girl took a photo of Alex while shopping at Target and posted it on a social media site. Suddenly, everyone’s feed was filled with photos of him. He did nothing, besides bagging a girl’s groceries, but other than that, nothing. His success story is that he works at Target. What a story to tell your grandchildren.

Alex from Target then started another craze. Among them was Frankie from Starbucks, Matt from Red Robin, and Kieran from T-Mobile, although they were not as popular as Alex. If you are a cute teenage boy working at a chain store, consider yourself lucky.

Saturday Night Live even did a skit featuring Josh Hutcherson called Todd from Best Buy.

This just goes goes to show how ridiculous humans can be. I’m not saying the boy isn’t cute, but he has had a rise from a grocery bagger, to an internet star, for being in the right place at the right time. This just goes to show how completely random the internet can be.

It also proves how incredibly vain people can be. A pretty face and a nametag is all it took for Alex, although he is pretty muscular thanks to all the groceries he carries out for customers.

As time goes on it’s like people get publicity for doing less and less. Things like morals, ethics, and education are becoming less prevalent for stars to obtain. Famous figure like Heidi Montag, Kim Kardashian, and Snooki became famous for publicly embarrassing themselves. People can now become famous for acting like an idiot, which is not something I look up to, even though others may.

Who knows who the “next big thing” will be. It could even be you.
