Fall sports came to a close, and while this signifies free nights after school for some students, others slip right back into a routine with more after-school practices.

Basketball conditioning is already in full swing, but practices will officially start on Monday, Nov. 17.

Head coach Anthony Harms is no longer coaching the girls’ team, so coaches Ryan Reeder, Drew Chively and Brett Chively have taken over, and have big plans for the team.

“There is going to be a more up-tempo and faster-paced playing style of basketball,” Reeder said.

The girls are happy with the new coach and know it will prove as beneficial to the team.

“Reeder is very encouraging and always finds a positive side to everything,” junior Brianna Boender said. “He gives us confidence in what we do, and to me, that’s exactly what a team needs to be successful.”

Harms assumed the position of boys’ head coach, and the players look forward to the impact he will have on their performances.

“I’ve never met someone more competitive in my life,” senior Conner Stutheit said. “I think that’s going to rub off on us.”

Harms plans to make the team run and lift a bit more, and is confident with how it will benefit the guys.

“I have a pretty good feeling that come January and February, our team will be pretty tough,” Harms said.

The teams will condition and practice various mornings and every day after school for the remainder of the month in preparation for a great season. Basketball games will begin in the first week of December.
