Snow Not Ready For Winter

As one may have noticed, winter is coming. There has been snowy, cold weather, not just in the Midwest, but all across the country.

The harsh reality is that the calm, mild temperatures and weather patterns of fall have left, and in comes the violent weather of winter.

“All of a sudden, it was nice weather. And then boom! It just started to get frigid,” junior Cierra Persing said.

Winter can be incredibly difficult to drive in. It is sometimes hazardous depending on what conditions the roads are facing.

“I find it difficult while driving in snow. You have to be so much more cautious and careful,” freshman Sydney Waller said.

However, further into the season the temperature becomes even worse.

“I strongly dislike being cold and having to bundle up to go anywhere,” science teacher Pam Wendel said.

The precipitation that winter brings can brighten up the melancholy mood of winter.

“I love how shiny it [the ground] can be sometimes, especially after a night of snowing,” senior David Johnson said.

Winter also ushers in opportunities to enjoy seasonal activities.

“I like snow because we have snow days from out of school, and I love to go sledding,” Persing said.

Winter isn’t always as popular compared to other seasons.

“I tolerate winter so I can get to spring and summer,“ Wendel said.

As winter is just beginning, the anticipation for the upcoming holiday season is rising, unlike the temperatures.

“I love the holidays like Christmas that come around in the winter time , but I do get sick of the cold,” Waller said.

As winter is quickly approaching with the holiday season, both anticipation and dread for the weather are in equal measure. As nobody can definitely say what will come from the winter season, hopefully it won’t be too unbearable.
