Sore Over A Selfie

Conflict broke out when Miss Israel and Miss Lebanon took a selfie together at the Miss Universe pageant despite the bad relations between the two countries.

Israelis citizens threatened to disqualify Miss Lebanon, but she will not have her crown revoked.

Just because two countries have issues shouldn’t mean that two girls can’t take an innocent picture together. There is no problem with taking a smiley selfie with another human being, no matter what the circumstances.

If anything, Israel and Lebanon should be happy that the girls are spreading positivity between the two countries. Since both girls are in the spotlight being beauty pageant royalty, the selfie influences a lot of people.

The Miss Universe Pageant should be a time where all of the countries involved come together to get along and be proud of our countries. The Olympics are the perfect comparison to this situation. This is an event that brings every country together no matter what their issues are. The selfie itself shows that we should be able to put aside our differences to get along and be friends.

Two girls taking a simple picture together should not spark a huge amount of controversy. In other articles, sources say that Miss Israel had no bad intentions when taking the selfie and that it was all in good nature. If that’s what it was, then I don’t see what’s wrong with this.

The Miss Universe pageant is coming up, meaning that there are going to be girls from around the world meeting up and talking. The world seems to expect these girls from other countries to steer clear of the countries they’ve had problems with. Being a Miss is an experience of a lifetime and shouldn’t be ruined by a selfie.

This also brings up the fact that people today pick out the littlest things to get upset about. People had to stoop this low to find something to argue over. Fighting over something as stupid as a selfie is plain ridiculous.

There are much more terrible things going on in the world besides selfie taking. We should be fighting over the Syrian civil war and ISIS attacks, not who’s taking a picture with who.

This selfie is not hurting anyone, it is not taking away money from anyone and it’s not killing innocent people. So why are we worried about it?
