With Spring just around the corner, the Track team is going full speed ahead with practices and conditioning for the 2015 season.
Like every other year, the team and coaches hope for great standards and wish to do well throughout all races.
“Our goals are probably about the same every year,” Ken Adkisson said. “We want to be the best, we look to take most of the championship titles like conference, district and most importantly state.”
Some of the procedures that the team is doing to prepare for their season goals include morning workouts every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Along with practicing Biometric techniques and speed endurance.
These techniques are not the only thing that go into factor when making a great team.
The returning senior team members have a lot of experience on their belt and only make the team better with their skills.
“Our upperclassmen do a good job of helping with the younger kids and making everyone succeed.” senior Grant McGill said.
With those younger players right behind them, they too will soon be great leaders of future years.
"I am more than excited to see what another year brings to me in track," Junior Mckenna Hoy said. "I would love to eventually help and show the underclassmen what I have been taught so they can help our track team as a whole."
Either way they all are capable of doing their best throughout the meets whether it’s against a strong or weak team, and are familiar with the circumstances they must accomplish.
There will be more details on when and where the meets will take place on the district website, once it gets closer to the season starting.
A quick glance of some of those stronger competitors that will test the teammates readiness this year comprise of York, Gretna, Elkhorn South and Seward.
“No matter what and no matter who we face, we look forward to this season and we have high expectations.” Adkisson said.
The 2015 Track period holds many possibilities and if the coaches stick to their practice and endurance plan, and if the players stay focused their preparation should pay off.
