Friday Brings In Bad Luck
The good old superstition of Friday the 13th has fallen upon us once again. For those who believe in bad luck, this one day has people biting their nails and taking a second glance over their shoulder.
Others might think it is just another day, and there is nothing to worry about, which is usually how it goes.
From the ‘80s hit movie about the masked killer Jason Voorhees to all of the unlucky possibilities that people think could happen, including walking under a ladder, a black cat crossing your path or a mirror breaking, Friday the 13th has been something to be afraid of but also something to scoff at.
The origin of this unfortunate day comes from biblical terms, dealing with the crucifixion of Christ. Friday was the day of crucifixion, and on the Thursday the day before, at the last supper, there was 13 people. Now, don’t go thinking just because it is said to be a religious old wive’s tale that the day itself is truly cursed.
The way to look at it is another day to get people hyped up for no reason. Other than being able to watch scary movie marathons and get excited about Halloween, which is still months away from now, it’s supposed to be a funny day where one is believed into thinking bad things happen to them, but in reality nothing does.
This year is an extra peculiar Friday. It falls on the day before Valentine’s Day. So, if the superstition rings true, couples better watch out. Cupid just might not be on your side this love season. What’s there to kid about, though; nothing will happen to your precious eye-candy.
This Friday, everyone will go about their day-to-day routines without blinking an eye, and low and behold, they will still be standing at the end of the day with not even a scratch. No matter what any individual thinks about this day, the widespread circulation will never die out since it is such a well known date.
Enjoy the weekend and its festivities, and don’t let the bad luck bring you down.
