Eating At The Eatery
Sheridan Parker- Staff Writer
The Eatery, located at 2548 South 48th Street in Lincoln, is perfect for those who want a family meal, something more homeade, not those interested in fine dining. It wasn’t a forgettable experience per say, but wasn’t dazzling enough to stick in my mind for days to come.
The location was in a good neighborhood, and parking wasn’t a hassle due to all of the nearby shops and residential area.
The overall atmosphere was very family friendly; most of those eating had children proving how accommodating the atmosphere is for families.
The kitchen was visible from the front of the restaurant, showing just how clean the establishment was.
The dining room was spacious and offered many different seating arrangements, although it seemed rather choppy because of a wall in the middle of the dining room. An additional dining hall was available for parties and other get togethers, although it was in a separate area of the establishment.
The service was incredibly fast; within 15 minutes after being seated, I was served my food. The host and waitress were friendly and even recommended certain dishes on the menu.
The menu is quite expansive, featuring hamburgers, an extensive salad bar, milkshakes and malts, as well as ribs and variants of pasta, just to name a few.
Weekend mornings are a great time to visit due to their extensive breakfast buffet that hosts muffins, pancakes and fruit.
The Belgian waffle is drizzled with sweetened strawberry syrup and whip cream. The waffle texture is very light and almost melts in your mouth.
The Rise and Shine Combo is the best of both worlds. The combo was impressive, the only letdown was the bacon was not fully cooked, and it lacked crisp.
The prices reflected both the quality and portions of the foods available. Nothing was very pricey and the portion sizes was just right, again instilling the family qualities that the restaurant was going for.
For families, especially those with young children, The Eatery is a perfect place to dine. Although if you are looking for something more upscale, I wouldn't recommend it. For an overall rating on a scale of five, I would give The Eatery a three.
