District 145 Proposes New Preschool
On March 2, the District 145’s Board Of Education will vote on whether or not Eagle will have a new pre-school.
District 145 currently partners with the Waverly Community preschool. According to Superintendent, Dr. Bill Hienmann, identifying any potential learning disabilities at an earlier age is a major benefit pre-school to having a preschool program.
“We started investigation for a new preschool in fall of 2013,” Heimann said. “Providing opportunities for children to be more successful and more prepared when they begin kindergarten is the main purpose of pre-school.”
Pre-School has many positive aspects to help ensure kids get the education they need.
“Identifying any potential learning disabilities at an earlier age is another purpose of pre-school,” Heimann said.
The district 145 is in the process of writing a grant to Nebraska Department of Education and on March 2 the voting on the application will take place.
“The grant, if received, it would be used to help pay for the salary/benefits of the teaching position,” Heimann said.
Assuming that the grant passes, and if the board votes yay, it’s doors will be open August 2015.
“The proposed addition of a program at Eagle Elementary is not expected to change the Waverly Community Pre-School program,” Heinmann said.
