Obama Takes Criticism For Accomplishments

What exactly has Obama done in his two terms? This is a question being asked very recently as his time in office is drawing to a close.

Obama has been under heavy political fire since the moment he started his first political campaign in 2008. He is constantly attacked for his high goals and views on all aspects of running the nation, such as nuclear weapons, the war in Iraq, health care and the second amendment.

Though people may ask what Obama has done, there are several significant answers to give. Some of the bigger ones are that he helped end the war in Iraq. He had all of the troops out of Iraq by Dec. 18, 2011. This was one goal that he set and achieved.

Another program that came into effect during the Obama administration was something no president has been able to do: create and establish universal health care. Obamacare has been against the ropes since it came out in 2014. however, it was designed to give health insurance to an approximate 32 million uninsured people. Though Obama has helped Americans, he has also used his power to assist other nations.

Aiding foreign nations to topple dictators is one way Obama has helped other countries. In 2011, he made a public call for Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak to step down or accept reform. He also assisted in overturning Muammar Gaddafi and bringing an end to his rule over Libya.

Though political parties attack him for things he has done, they also attack for things he promised but did not accomplish. One such promise was that he wouldn’t sign statements to offset congress. This promise was broken after he didn’t allow congress in on the decision to release detainees from Guantanamo Bay Prison for a taliban held soldier.

People may not agree with all of Obama’s decisions, but he set high goals, and though some were not reached, it doesn’t mean he hasn’t made some huge accomplishments.
