A Person’s Stress Is Up To Them
The phrase, “the only constants in life are death and taxes”, needs to be amended; the word stress needs to be added.
It is a common occurrence to hear students complain about all of their responsibilities and how stressed out they are by what they need to accomplish. Although stress may play a significant role in the typical young adult’s life, especially students, it doesn’t have to become a daunting task to overcome stress on a daily basis.
Stress is commonly associated with a person’s over-involvement, or taking on more than they can handle, especially if the person is young. Although stress can be intimidating for some, there are healthy ways to manage stress and greatly decrease the level of stress in a person’s daily life.
According to health.com, having a routine such as the same bedtime, what time a person goes to work, or even what songs one listens to during the day can help to majorly reduce stress in a person’s daily life. Observing daily rituals like those also gives a person a sense of comfort and normalcy.
Another major component to controlling and decreasing the level of stress in a person’s life is to not overthink things. When someone only focuses on their responsibilities and all that is required of them, it causes them to panic and only increases the level of stress.
When a student is involved in many activities, they become adapted to a sort of hecticness in their life. Although, coping with a busy schedule is not difficult if one prioritizes their time and activities. There is a lot of unnecessary stress in a young person’s life, but it is almost always completely fixable.
A person has to know their limits in order to manage stress. For example, one whose grades are important to them, but still participates in sports and clubs may have an increased level of stress. If a person knows what they can and can’t handle, they can gauge whether or not they are overworking themselves, or if they are handling their workload well. The limit of tolerance for stress is different with each person.
High school students that face a lot of tasks but manage their time in a productive way are training for their future. Not only for college, with the added workload in academics, but also in how to deal with the real world and the numerous responsibilities that comes with being an adult, a skill that many people lack. Life outside of high school is more than schoolwork and sports, The tasks that are attached to becoming an adult can be much more challenging to young adults.
People who remain oblivious to what they can and cannot do and overexert themselves are willingly inviting stress into their lives. Therefore, they should be held accountable for their stress and find ways to deal with it. The amount of stress a person has is entirely up to them.
By learning how to deal with stress as a young person, it would not be a problem to overcome the same feat at a later time. No matter if a person’s tasks have increased or lessened, a person who can manage their stress would be prepared for all possibilities.
No matter what a teen deals with in their daily life, or how stressed they are, there are always ways to decrease the stress level by managing it in a healthy way.
