The FlatWater Grill Serves Up Success
The Flatwater Grill, located at 801 R Street in Lincoln, is ideal for those who want a fine dining experience in a secluded environment.
The restaurant is in the Haymarket area, which is normally heavily visited, although the Flatwater Grill is in the outskirts and therefore was excluded from the heavy traffic.
The overall atmosphere was very chic and upscale. While the restaurant was quiet it had an posh bar vibe to it.
Cleanliness was not something that the restaurant lacked. The kitchen and bakery area were clearly visible from the dining area inside. The staff was also efficient in bussing the tables as soon as the customers left.
The restaurant was incredibly spacious. Not only was there a large-sized dining area inside that hosted a private section that could be rented, but it also included a bar and a large outdoor seating area that offered a beautiful view of the downtown area.
Service was slightly slow at the Flatwater Grill. The waiter was not very efficient with drink orders and such and lacked a friendliness that is expected.
The menu featured various dishes, but not so much so that a customer would be overwhelmed. Pastas, flatbreads, sandwiches and more gourmet items such as ribeye and various other steaks were also on the menu.
The chicken parmesan featured two chicken patties with thickly cut-spaghetti, all covered in marinara sauce, with a gracious amount of parmesan cheese. The serving size could be considered small for the price, however the quality of the dish was well worth it.
The turkey avocado sandwich was toasted on French bread and hosted many different toppings such as tomato, lettuce and onions. It was topped off with mayo that complimented the avocado perfectly.
The prices at the Flatwater Grill are a little high compared to other restaurants in the area but they are reasonable considering the fancy atmosphere and the high quality of the dishes.
For those who are looking for a dining experience that is not incredibly fancy but still has a superior air about it, the Flatwater Grill is the place to go. Overall, I would rate the restaurant 4 stars out of 5.
