Dining At A Grocery Store
Grocery stores no longer just sell food, they serve it prepare and serve it too. Hy-Vee, housed on 5020 N 27th St. in Lincoln, now offers The Market Cafe to its customers as well. The restaurant is a above a typical grill type of restaurant, but is not what would be considered fine dining.
Overall the restaurant had many positives. such as the quality and portions of the food, and very few negatives that could be attributed to a new restaurant.
Since the restaurant is excluded from the rest of the store if offers a different atmosphere from the hustle and bustle of grocery shopping. The whole aesthetic was very clean and welcoming.
The Market Cafe was was very clean; the tables were bused efficiently and the restaurant clearly new.
The restaurant featured a dining area and a bar as well. It had an open layout inside the restaurant. There was also outdoor seating as another available option, which was also spacious and well decorated.
The service was a little slow, especially from our waiter. However, it is a new restaurant, and there is always kinks to work out with a new business.
The menu had what a normal grill, cafe style restaurant would have but with a little twist as the restaurant also offered a wide variety of sushi.
The cobb salad came in a large portion. It was a typical salad, but offered add on for someone's personal preference. It also came with a hard boiled egg on the side, which always makes the dish seem more fancy.
The Monte Cristo was an enormous sandwich and was stacked incredibly high. The best part of the dish was the extra crispy bacon and generous serving of fries.
The prices were pretty typical for this type of establishment, and on some dishes a little under the normal cost. The portions and quality of the food were well worth it, though.
The Market Cafe is for those who want family dining while also getting the benefit of a diverse menu and a quality restaurant. It also helps with convenience that a restaurant of this caliber is housed at a local grocery store. On a scale of five, I would give the Market Cafe a 3.5.
The convenience of having a quality dining experience and afterwards picking up groceries afterword will definitely propel shoppers into grocery stores that offer that.
